Clara Paget

Actress. Paris

There’s nothing quite like a CHANEL field trip. If you've been following along, you know by now we’re not talking fifth grade school trips to the aquarium, either (scratch that—one of Karl’s favorite models did accompany us to a waterpark once, but it was in Dubai, and, well, CHANEL). No, a CHANEL field trip often entails first class travel to exotic locales (see the aforementioned Dubai or, say, Dallas via private plane), or beautiful actresses in exclusive hotels, or, you know, just a lot of couture. What can we say? It’s all very #casual.

So when we got a call from CHANEL, while in Paris for fashion week, asking not only that our photographer, Jake, shoot on the actual runway during Lagerfeld’s latest protest-simulating extravaganza (yup, that happened), but that we also swing by a local Parisian boxing gym (yes, Parisian and the phrase ‘boxing gym’ can go together) to capture the brand’s latest ingénue obsession in action.

In case you hadn't noticed in casually flipping through just about every magazine at the bodega, Karl’s pretty into boxing this season. So into it, that Clara Paget, the (really, really) beautiful English actress, was persuaded to tie on a pair of tweed boots and some leather gloves and get in the ring, so to speak. In heavy gold chains (bedecked with to-die-for tweed lock pendants), a mesh bra and boxing shorts, Paget certainly looked the part. And, okay so maybe we don’t play a pirate on TV’s Black Sails like Paget does and therefore don’t meet Coach Karl’s team requirements, but, we mean, given the chance to try CHANEL’s version of a boxers’ hooded robe and we’d totally be down to get all aggressive in the ring, too. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, right?

To get in the ring yourself, check out Bergdorf Goodman's 'CHANEL on 5F' installation, for which part of the store's fifth floor will be transformed into a sports club (where you can actually buy those sneakers). And you can bet the department store's storied window displays will be getting in on the action, too. Open to the public October 9 through 19.
