Laura Bailey

Model; Writer; Contributing Editor, British Vogue. London

You know that romanticized version of London you have that might only exist in movies starring Hugh Grant/Kiera Knightley/[insert alternative critically-lauded, beloved English actor here]? You know, where the streets are lined with whitewashed townhouses and the people are quirky, but still impossibly beautiful, eccentric and in possession of, well, what can only be described as that uniquely English self-effacing sense of humor? We’re here to tell you it doesn’t only exist in the movies. Exhibit A: Laura Bailey.

So she lives in an oversized and rambling townhouse in Notting Hill that backs onto a private, perfectly un-groomed private garden. And when she welcomes us in, all impossible long blond hair and dry jokes, we knew we were in for a particularly English treat. That said, Bailey’s appeal hardly ends there. ICYMI, the model and writer is about as close as one can get to being British fashion royalty—from her role as the British Fashion Council’s Culture Ambassador to a very, ahem, special relationship with the house of CHANEL. Then again, if you’ve ever clicked through a slideshow of London party pictures of swiped past a particularly well curated Instagram profile (seriously, though, check out @laurabaileylondon if you haven’t), we’re pretty sure you’ll recognize her unmissable willowy frame, kohl-lined doe eyes and that hair (rest assured we had her spill on her beauty secrets).

And let’s just say her wardrobe reflects her inner-circle position (after all, girl is a contributing editor at British Vogue, a favorite muse of the likes of Bella Freud and Alice Temperley and the creative director of Loquet London—founder and Cov-alum Sheherazade Goldsmith is her bestie). Leading us up multiple stories to her master suite—she shares the house with her children and boyfriend—Bailey had already pulled a Coveteur-worthy assemblage of her favorite pieces and spread them out on her bed and sofa for our approval. What can we say? It was something like heaven: Prada and Nicholas Kirkwood heels, Bella Freud sweaters, Miu Miu skirts, a couple well-worn Nike tees and CHANEL just about everywhere we looked in the form of an endless collection of quilted bags, jackets, shoes and one truly gorgeous white beaded gown. Scratch what we said earlier: we’d take Bailey’s life over a movie any day.
