Veronica Miele Beard

Co-Founder, Veronica Beard. New York

There are some moments in life—signs, maybe—when something so obvious lands in your lap, you can’t not not act on it. Like say when you get married and change your name to your new husband’s, all while your brother-in-law does the same with another woman who shares your first name. Do you know anyone with your exact name? Is it your sister-in-law? Yeah, this very bizarre, life-is-strange, but-kind-of-amazing thing is an IRL situation for Veronica Miele Beard. It landed on her lap when her husband’s brother married Veronica Swanson Beard. She—or, rather, they—acted and launched a label very aptly named Veronica Beard. (Honestly, if they’d named it anything else it would’ve negated the whole happy coincidence, no?)
And Veronica Beard (the label) has been nothing short of a roaring success, as in they supply us with the kind of daily uniform that isn’t boring, but also (very important) isn’t a lot of work. Like their very popular Dickey jacket, for example, which we’ve been coveting for going on, like, four years now, which is customizable with innumerable—you guessed it!—dickeys and makes the whole layering thing just about the easiest morning project ever (and their new online jacket shop makes playing around with these combos that much more amusing).

Anyway. The point is, we’ve been watching the Veronicas for a while, and, as these things tend to go with us, we eventually ended up at VMB (initials are a necessity here—VSB is #comingsoontoaCoveteurnearyou) Upper East Side home, ready to raid whatever wardrobe would turn out such an impeccably dressed designer. There were a lot of those jackets, but there was also serious collection of Dolce & Gabbana, Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo, Burberry and Fendi. And here’s the most impressive thing of all: the woman runs a business while also running after five (!!!) children. Gang’s all here!
