"It's more interesting to have just a picture of a small detail - then you can dream all the rest around it.
Because when you see the whole thing, what is there to imagine?" -Dries Van Noten

Gaia Repossi

Artistic Director, Maison Repossi. Paris

Gaia Repossi has been revered by the industry for her creative eye, minimalistic aesthetic and ability to infuse a family business with a dose of modern creativity. At the age of 20, Gaia assumed the role of Artistic Director to her family's famed jewelry house, which was founded in 1925 by her grandfather. Even after three generations, the Repossi house continues to be an influential force in the fine jewelry world. The Repossi name has been synonymous with effortless style and classic pieces that have withstood the test of time. Her youthful influence took the eponymous heritage brand into a new generation by sourcing ancient, Art Deco and other influences and seamlessly transforming them into a modern age. Gaia's takeover saw the brand's collaboration with today's top tastemakers; in 2010, she debuted her "Burned Gold" collection with cult-fave Alexander Wang for his F/W '11 show and also her collab with (another industry-fave) Mr. Joseph Altuzarra for his F/W '11 show. With a background in Fine Arts (she majored in archaeology and anthropology), it's easy to see how Gaia's background has translated into thoughtful collections, which are enriched in and inspired by "ethnic silhouettes and tribal" accents. And there's one thing we love more than anything - her minimalistic aesthetic rings true in her own wardrobe. That being said, it should come as no surprise that she's a Philophile (like us) through and through. As walking G.R. models ourselves — we don't leave home without our Berbère rings — we totally can understand why Gaia's goods have been the go-to for stylists (Carine Roitfeld is a fan) and celebs alike. But don't be fooled by her black and white-infused closet; there's pops of florals in the form of a bra, blouse and jacket blossoming from the depths of her wardrobe. But, in all fairness, they are all Céline creations.

The Alexander Wang pumps at first seemed a little strong for me, but in fact they are very beautiful and feminine on the feet. I remember wearing them often in New York and at a lunch I was wearing them with simple Margiela grey leggings. The ring is just a recall to the silver of the shoes.

Also, the books are great. One is a compilation of Richard Serra sculptures, who is a major influence in the volumes of some of my collections. The other one you can't really see is a novel written by Françoise Gilot entitled Vivre Avec Picasso. And the tiny note book is a travel book given by my boyfriend who's a great artist.

The Berbère Collection is inspired by the Tuareg nomads (Berberians). They wore black stripes on their fingers. The collection will still be declined until there will be no declination possible. The simple lines elongate the hand and are very elegant. When set with diamonds, its just few lines striped on the phalanx, very refined. All, Gaia Repossi #inline_02

The picture at the top is of my boyfriend, Jeremy Everett, shot by Bruce Weber. The picture on the left is of Robert Smithson's 'Spiral Jetty' in the Utah desert shot by Jeremy a couple of years ago. We did a trip there and the most amazing landscapes are engraved in my mind. The little note book on the right was also given by Jeremy after a trip we did.

An all khaki Céline shot, yes! I got those shoes thinking they were too strict, but in fact they are one of my favourites among the season and give off a retro vibe. The khaki is beautiful it's like another black. Neutral colours are among my favourites.

The necklace you see on the side is a vintage ethnic necklace I got from the Chinese Minorities. Its a great inspiration which I'm going to let grow on it's own in my mind. My collections, patterns, and ideas have to come on their own.

The flowers you see in the middle are from our florist Eric Chauvin. He does the arrangements for the house and these are the pink flowers he always does for me. On the left a funny little book on shoot of a cat in Japan I got at Dashwood Books in New York. Great idea for exposing small images.

The Céline bra, an unexpected break of my minimal calls. And the Céline invites to the shows with my name tagged like that, It's great. The latest book of Dazed published by Jefferson and an Alexander Wang x Gaia Repossi ring.

I love the hand on the right with the tattoos it's a great idea for shooting my pieces. In the back a story shot by David Sims and styled by Joe McKennan with a very masculine Malgosia.

A black Céline bag, I feel this winter black is the colour again. A pair of lizard resort pumps. Phoebe is the only one showing her mood boards (on shows invitations, greeting cards and website) which I find deeper then ads because she's speaking to us somehow. All, Céline #inline_07

These shoes are couture. I remember going to the show, maybe the first I'd been of couture, kindly invited by karl. Later I was given these. I wore them a lot. Latest maybe at the last fun event we did with Sarah at her store (Colette). The black & white is very pretty. Karl's brilliance? To me before being an example for developing Chanel to what it is today, and preserving the couture tradition etc, to me he is the last Monsieur of a lost elegance nowadays.

The bag is on a pile of ethnic jewelry books that are bibles to me. I could work to infinite declinations with these. And the shoes are in our latest catalogue. Maybe it will be a lucky trick for my own path..
