Amber Valletta

Model, Founder, Master & Muse. Los Angeles

Once you’ve covered Vogue like a billion times, fronted numerous campaigns for the likes of Prada, Fendi and Calvin Klein, shared covers with Kate Moss and Shalom Harlow, mastered mommyhood, transitioned into television and film, and are on a first name/nickname basis with Steven Klein and Steven Meisel… well, let’s just say you’re a legend.

We hopped off a plane at LAX (straight out of Miley Cyrus song) and high tailed it to Santa Monica to Valletta’s abode. We were greeted by the blonde-haired beauty and given a very warm (and wet) welcome by the slobbery kisses of her precious chug, Mumsie. After settling in, we were given the grand tour of her Zen-like, cozy pad, which she single-handedly designed herself, along with her interior designer bestie. And for someone who’s been doing the model thing since the early 90s, you can’t blame the veteran for using her crisp white walls to showcase some of her most memorable work. As we walked down the hallway to her master, we took a literal walk down memory lane at Valletta’s most memorable editorials, covers and campaigns. At the end of hallway? A fuchsia-walled sitting room complete with a hand-painted, wallpapered ceiling, which paved the way to her walk-in. Among the notable pieces inside were gifts from Nicolas Ghesquière and Karl Lagerfeld, vintage treasures (she’s an expert when it comes to hunting) and plenty of pieces from her latest endeavour, Master & Muse – an online store she created to bridge the gap between high fashion and responsible manufacturing.

And while we certainly did our fair share of closet snooping, it was Valletta’s beauty cabinet that really caught our attention. “I am very regimented about my beauty routine,” she confessed. “For skincare, I try to use products with the least amount of harmful chemicals as possible. I also love serums and scrubs. I am a big fan of Giorgio Armani foundation, Dior mascara and NARS for lipstick. I am also obsessed with Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray.” As for her signature perfume? “I love scents to have an amber base – woodsy, cedar and clean with a touch of masculinity.” Coincidence? We think not.
