Anita Ko

Fine Jewelry Designer. Los Angeles

Cougars, and spikes, and lapidated nature... oh my! The year was 2006, and Anita Ko, a native Angelino, took the plunge and launched her namesake jewelry line, nine years after graduating from NYU with a degree in Art History. While Ko draws inspiration from her global travels, there's a 40-year timeframe that really has had a profound creative influence on her designs - the 1940's through the 1980's. Hello swing dancers and Pat Benetar denim!
She originally honed in on her entrepreneurial charisma, and fresh out of college life, she put her efforts forth and launched a line of handbags that put her name on the map. But her inherent passion for fine gems was always an endeavor she wanted to pursue, and fast-forward a couple of years, and Anita Ko (the namesake luxe line of jewels) was born.
Ko’s precious jewels caught our attention years ago…as well as a slew of celebs: M.K. and A, Demi Moore, Nicole Richie, Rihanna, Rachel Zoe, Kate Hudson and Victoria Beckham. The aesthetic encompasses micro-pave diamonds, 18 karat gold, and vibrant semi-precious stones. We kid you not, if we could, we would sleep in her killer animalistic gems Monday through Friday (alright, alright... twist our arms - we will sleep in her creations on the weekends too). While currently sold at such retail powerhouses like Net-A-Porter, The Webster Miami and Neiman Marcus, we've already been saving our pennies towards KoKo's ridiculously chic 18 karat white gold pavé panther knocker necklaces. Our ears are almost as excited as we are! The year was 2006, and Anita Ko, a native Angelino, took the plunge and launched her namesake jewelry line. These sandals were on sale at the Christian Louboutin boutique in Vegas. I think they're so fun for summer with a denim skirt and tank top so I had to buy two for the price of one!

The large diamond wing necklace is one of my most favorite pieces in my collection. It's a perfect necklace to wear with a strapless dress or a bare neckline. It's supposed to be worn to bring fun, beauty and whimsy into one's life.

I thought she was the cutest thing so I display her in my bathroom as a piece of art. I had to get this black crocodile CDC because it's an iconic accessory and I love mixing it in with my own jewelry.

I love handbags. I can't help myself! If I see a bag I love, I have to have it. I'm able to express my love for color through my bags. I found this incredible armoire while walking my dog through Beverly Hills. We came across an estate sale and, of course, I left with a 19th century Italian armoire. When I brought it home I had no idea what to do with it so I stuck it in my closet to house my bags.

I made this for myself after seeing the rooms of Henry Vlll and Ann Boleyn in a book. Their initials were intertwined all over their room just like the piece I designed. This is my kind of initial necklace.

All of the animal pieces you see are gifts from my Mom since I was a little girl. I even remember the wooden elephant in my bedroom when I was 10. I remember the red marble one in my bathroom all throughout my teenage years. I love animal prints because they are sexy, and it's part of my look. I express my love by wearing my leopard Lanvin flats, my leopard Charlotte Olympia heels, an animal print tote and sometimes python heels. I love this jacket; It was a gift from two dear friends of mine and it's so cool. I’m a huge fan of his.

This G-Shock was made for me by the West Coast jeweler Ben Baller. We are like family so he made this incredible rose gold and diamond G-Shock. I wear it whenever I travel on a red eye flight and sometimes when I go to the occasional nightclub. Love it because it lights up pinkish purple, and it's fun. It actually looks cool with CHANEL.

I don't know how old this piece is but an antique store was going to destroy it because they were going out of business. It was bright neon green so I saved it and painted it this sage color with gold and moved it to my backyard.

I love a good red and in my wardrobe it's a staple. Growing up I've always associated the color red with good luck. In my opinion it's the best statement color...especially when it comes to a great bag.
