Anna Laub

Founder; Creative Director, PRISM; Editor of O: Woman. London

Anna Laub has been in the fashion industry a long time…and she’s come a long way from her days as a teen model. The girl has worked with all the key players: Hussein Chalayan, Conde Nast, The New York Times: T Magazine, The LA Times… the list goes on. The London-bred, girl-about-town has tried her hand at everything from editing mags—she founded the youth culture mag, PURE—to writing for a wide variety of notable publications. Her most recent endeavour? PRISM, her covetable line of eyewear and swimwear. After being fed-up of not being able to find “cool, optical glasses,” Laub set out to make ‘em herself. You know what they say? If you want something done right, do it yourself!
Each pair is inspired (and named after) a different city; and we must say, we’re big fans of Tokyo and Rio! Aside for being picked up by Barney’s, Opening Ceremony, Colette and Dover Street Market, Laub recently collaborated with cult-fave Rachel Comey, providing the eyewear for her N.Y.C show. Talk about spectacle! And she’s got a damn good eye for style. Her love for leopard had us seeing spots for days… but, to be honest, we weren’t complaining. But the real pièce de résistance? Her Alaïa collection. Cher Horowitz would be mega jealous… just saying.

I wanted cool optical glasses. That was it really. I was fed up of saying 'I like those but if they were only a bit more like this…' So I just did it myself!

This fixture is by Droog Design. I actually found it originally at this amazing gallery in Paris. I was wandering back to the car after the Rick Owens show and saw this in the window. They had every piece of furniture I’d been drooling over while doing my house up and all these young designers that I loved that I thought no one had ever heard of.

This is kind of an amalgamation of all my old mood boards. I still obsessively take polaroids of people when I am doing castings for our lookbooks, like we are still in the 90’s; I can’t help it.

Let’s just say this dress has seen some things on nights out in Milan, at the Principe and beyond.

The chest was actually my grandmother’s – I think it’s real crocodile! And everything else in the picture were presents – the feather is actually a hairpiece that Olivia, one of my best friends, gave me. All the rings were also presents – one from Rajni my bestie from NY, Katie my bestie from Uni and the last one a birthday present from my boyfriend.

I think Hussein is super talented (and I love everyone who works with him!) I think this was a sample from the show, and then when I bought it at the studio, they actually fitted it to me and had it taken in by their seamstress. The print hanging next to it is by Kate Moross.

I love my mini sparkly purse. It’s just big enough for credit cards and a bit of money. I also love my vintage mother-of-pearl card holder. Essie gave us nail polish that we used as the colours of our SS collection for our presentation we did in NY during fashion week. And some reflective camel Rio sunglasses to add a bit of extra sparkle.

This for me is very definitive of Alaïa; perfect colour, very minimal but super sexy. I think [Rodarte's] collaborations are great! I have a serious problem in that I cannot go into Opening Ceremony in New York without buying something – I have literally never left the store without purchasing something.

The skull is part of a McQueen belt. All the glasses here are optical and are part of the classic and nude collections – the styles here are called Rio and New York. I name each shape after a city that the style was inspired by.
