Our Paris memories are vivid and not nearly forgotten. The first pit stop on The CoveTour de France was Aurélie Bidermann’s—the industry fave jewelry designer and our unofficial tour guide Parisienne. Bidermann welcomed us into her home and spent the day giving us insider tips on where to eat, shop, wine and dine. Being a friend of past Coveteurs like Garance Doré Garance Doréand Virginie Dhello, we'd heard amazing things and were eager to meet the leading lady herself. It was hard not to be inspired by Bidermann’s philosophy and designs. It was even more inspiring to be in her personal space, which was plastered with carefully curated moodboards. Bidermann’s abode was truly a Coveteur’s dream, filled with impromptu bookshelves, Selby prints, preserved tarantulas (yes, you read that correctly) and an endless supply of Bidermann originals. Getting up-close and personal with one of our favourite jewelry lines—and the brains behind the namesake line—was truly a pleasure. Her Santa Fe-inspired Spring/Summer 2012 collection became an instant obsession; the reference points behind each piece of jewelry are not only thoughtful, but brilliantly interpreted. It was fascinating to see the re-emergence of the golden wheat (a symbol of luck and prosperity) amongst Bidermann’s collection, as it was also a prominent reoccurring symbol in Coco Chanel’s apartment at 31 Rue Cambon (which we had previewed just days before). When we dug through her closet, we encountered an enormous amount of leopard print and creepy crawly creatures reminiscent of Stephanie Lacava’s collection…but we clearly weren’t complaining. Instead of running for the Eiffel Tower, we happily overstayed our welcome and spent the afternoon admiring how good her bling looked on our bodies.
