There were certain items that I always needed and was renting for photo shoots including tiaras, canes, bowler hats, bullet bras, high-waisted panties and of course top hats. So as an excuse to hunt for more things on eBay I decided to start buying those pieces. This hat is from the 1920's and is now absolutely trashed but I love the patina. There are three more in my studio. Oops!

This breathtaking chandelier by French artist François Pascal hangs in the middle of the store. It’s use of crystals is a nod to Coco Chanel and its importance to her. Remember the custom, crystal chandelier in Coco's apartment? When Peter Marino renovated the store in 1997, the goal was for the interior to be a reflection of Coco's apartment at 31 Rue Cambon.
"It's all about refinements. It's the Paris version of the idea of India" It is really amazing how Karl can take the traditions of a country different than his own, and make them relevant for the future and really fuse Parisian, Indian and CHANEL culture.
I went through this phase of wearing scarves tied around my head when I had long crazy hair and lived in California; my little cousin used to actually tell his classmates he had a pirate for a cousin! I became obsessed with these scarves when I lived down the block from Maxfield. They would literally get in a new style every other week and I would be there first thing to get the best choice of color. My favorite one has to be the red Kama Sutra one that is covered in cigarette holes.
I put the little coffee maker and fridge in there because I wanted to make sure my beauty team always had what they needed. I wanted us to have coffee or tea or Diet Coke or champagne anytime we needed it! There can be up to ten people in there at a time all helping me get ready for an event, so I want it to be fun! We blast music, put the T.V. on, drink champagne and mostly laugh our asses off. I love that pic of me and Jen Atkin from Anguilla! She's an amazing hairdresser and friend. I'm not one to put pictures of myself up, but I just had to frame the one of Patrick Demarchelier shooting me! I have been lucky enough to work with him twice. I don't get star-struck, but I did with him! He's a legend! And a doll!
