Dan Ragone

Dan Ragone

President of Brant Communications. New York

There are a lot of players in the fashion world, but only a select few have a reputation with the golden touch. As the former president of Interview Magazine, Dan Ragone's time at the publication has come full circle, originally beginning his career as Interview's Fashion Director in the late 1990's. After spending three years with the brand, he then moved onto Allure Magazine, discovering the realm of beauty infused with fashion, where he acted as the Executive Fashion Director.
Ragone's unparalleled work ethic and drive caught the eye of ELLE Magazine, where he spent his time as Associate Publisher, Vice President Publisher of ELLE Decor (a brand he helped build during the magazines two most successful years) and Vice President Managing Director of ELLE, before going back to where it all began, the offices of Brant Publications. As the current President there, Ragone is one of the most respected and valued executives in the game, and with an equally impressive closet, he has established himself as a key ingredient to the success and growth of each masthead his name appears on.

One of my closest friends Alex Caputo [launched] his first accessories collection under [the] name Caputo & Co. The shapes and materials are really smart. He used navy blue and olive green for the men's bags- two colors you can rarely find for bags.

I haven't worn cuff-links since I left Elle Magazine, but these cuff-links are a classic. The photographs are James Day and actually look cool with their new piercings.

I have a lot of Pierre Hardy sneakers. I would buy a pair every time I was in Paris and now that he's opened a store on Jane Street I don't have to leave my neighborhood to get my hands on the newest style.

I'd been on the hunt for this trucker jacket. It was sold out worldwide. So you can only imagine what it felt like when I got the call that Pharrell decided to skip on it. Thanks Pharrell! The 'toy soldiers' are Visionaire 44 Kid Robot limited edition collaborations with Prada, Louis Vuitton, Vikor & Rolf, Dolce & Gabbana and Hedi Slimane.

I got these high tops in London where they swore I'd never find them in New York. They were definitely sold in NY, London and Japan but it didn't matter after I broke them in and scuffed them up. They are total traffic stoppers.

This belt is designed by Pierre Hardy. Most people don't know he's the creative director at Hermès for shoes, accessories and fine jewelry, another reason to love this guy. Oh, and the belt is reversible so you can divide the price by two which softens the blow.

I’m a big fan of emerging artists. I have several pieces from Monteagudo in my apartment and Hamptons house. I’m keeping my fingers crossed his prices don’t skyrocket until I buy a few more pieces from his sketch book. As for the condom holder, lets say it’s definitely helped upgrade my extra curricular activities.

I'll never get rid of these red pony hair Prada sneakers. Keith Haring's artwork makes laugh. I have the 'The 3 Eyed Happy Face,' which is larger than my sitting area and forces you to smile.

For the most part I try and keep my closets organized. I’m a Virgo/Libra cusp so I like things in their places. Something that I never get around to doing is changing to all the same hangers which clearly needs doing.

This muted taupe is such a strange color for a sneaker. It was also Pierre Hardy's first season using a side zipper on his kicks. The ceramic ghost lamps are vintage from Italy, the leather tray is from Airedelsur and the Enesto scented candles from Cire Trudon are all over my apartment. It’s an instant 'mood setter'. The scent is a waxy mix of leather and tobacco.

Artist Luis Monteagudo deconstructs fashion magazines and also uses them as sketch books. You'd die seeing how he’s ripping up all the advertisements and editorials with outrageous actions and words then he uses the pages as inspiration for larger works. Almost as interesting is the Visvim/Moncler collaboration. A limited edition capsule collection gets me every time. The paraboot is just one of the many cool pieces in the collection.

I had shoulder surgery and couldn't tie my laces so I wore these velcro low tops every day for about nine weeks until the brace came off. I wouldn’t mind having another pair or two.

I was privileged to see the original Damien Hirst diamond skull at Palazzo Vecchio in Florence with my friends from Trussardi. The museum was closed and we were the only ones there acting like children, but mostly in awe of something so precious and remarkable.

The hat was a gift from furrier/designer Helen Yarmak. It doesn’t get out much and actually might look better on this Fornasetti plate.
