Let's take it back a bit. We are Canadian, and while our very first bags may have been the Roots leather mini knapsacks (those out there who know what we are talking about probably also spent every Saturday at a Bar or Bat Mitzvah for a solid three years), we gradually migrated to a higher "level" of sophistication. Once we made the leap, we picked up Kate Spade's black nylon diaper bags and used them to carry our textbooks through the halls of junior high. But once we began to rock Kate Spade's bags and accessories, we were hooked. And now, with the companies recent implementation of neon satchels and dainty kitten heels, we've watched the brand evolve into not only a coveted line of leather, clothes, and anecdotes, but the Kate Spade team has created a chic lifestyle that we try to embody in tiny tidbits. And so, The Coveteur descends into Deborah Lloyd's home, the President and Creative Director of Kate Spade New York, where she oversees all creative aspects of the Kate Spade and Jack Spade brands, including product design, merchandising, creative services, and public relations. After spending six years as the EVP of design and product development at Banana Republic (and before that five years at Burberry), we headed to Ms. Lloyd's home in Brooklyn, who together with her husband, are avid collectors of photography, fashion illustration and modern art. Her home is adorned with vibrant colors and great taxidermy, and when we laid our eyes on her neon cocktail rings, we had a Technicolor moment! Her home really does resonate with the mantra of the brands, and it's evident with every corner and accessory throughout her house. But on the weekends, she spends her time at her home upstate, creating a little piece of England in her dainty, picturesque garden.
I am a sucker for Schiaparelli pink - anything shocking and bright - I am a fan.
