Director of Talent and Branding, Next Model Management. New York
Another Canadian living on the East Coast? Emese Szenasy acts as the Director of Global Communications at Diane von Furstenberg, spending her days at DVF's home/office location in the Meatpacking District. She started her career in fashion at Roots, assisting one of the founders in Toronto. From there, she stayed true to her stomping grounds and set up shop at Club Monaco, a brand she had always wanted to work for. Now, she's been at DVF for years, and when she can't keep up with Diane herself, she checks out her diary at DVF.com to make sure she knows exactly what is going on...at all times. Her style is enigmatic to say the least - a Céline cape from Matches, an eggplant-toned CHANEL bag, yellow patent leather Louboutin heels, and of course, a plethora of DVF's signature wrap dresses. But, we're most envious of her Hermès black clutch. "I was torn as to what color to buy this clutch in - either a taupe or classic orange. I decided on basic black - it goes with everything and is seasonless. I wore it to the launch of DVF in Istanbul and it just felt so perfect". But from now on, we're going to call her Sparta. Why? Well, we can't give it all away. But, we will give you a clue... stardust gold Proenza Schouler, anyone? Take it from here...

I found this Alexander Wang sweater in LA at Jill Roberts- loved the funkiness to it. Who would have thought he would turn into such an incredible talent with collection after collection that I covet!

These flats are the perfect spin on a classic black flat. My best girlfriend bought them right after I did. When we wear them we look ridiculous together but couldn’t care less. That dress was spring 2011 DVF and it is just simple and sexy and drapes the body so beautifully. And the little doll I bought in Shanghai with my friend Jessica as she was buying dolls for her little daughter. I figured I could get one and give to my daughter one day.

I bought [the yellow patent heels] when I was newly single a few years ago and I felt like Carrie Bradshaw walking down the street in them. I don’t really own basic boring shoes, I let my hair down with a rocking pair of shoes and I love pops of color. There is always something colorful on an otherwise neutral outfit, usually with my accessories.

This was my second CHANEL bag ever – the eggplant color is amazing, and I love that the chain is gunmetal, not silver or gold. I see those on everyone now and it loses its special feeling. DVF makes the best bedazzled sweaters – there is something so special and slightly vintage looking about these two. The Chloé shoes were bought in LA and I wore them all night during the Oscar’s [one year], it was definitely a relief to be in comfy heels all night. I’m convinced that Chloé and Céline make the most comfortable shoes on earth, it’s all about the pitch and your feet just can go for miles in these.

The soda pop orange of this color made me drool. I couldn’t leave it behind. I bought it the same day as my Céline cape at Matches in London. I love leopard. It reminds me of my grandmother and how much leopard she always wore. It was something leopard and red lipstick on her at all times.

One of my best friends, Mimi Brown, is such a talented artist. She surprised me with painting on my wall when I came home from Paris last fall. She took the answers I had written to a Proust questionnaire and based the painting on that- it brightens my entire apartment! And the jacket – well, I saw it on Elizabeth Saltzman when we were having a DVF lunch at Claridge’s in London. She was wearing it with these insane hot pink cords and she looked like the epitome of chic. I needed the jacket. I went straight to Paul and Joe and then couldn’t bring myself to buy it. A week later back in New York, I called the store and bought it and sent my London PR to pick it up and ship it to me overnight. I was on a mission clearly. It is one of those pieces that makes me happy and brighter just by putting it on. Now that’s a powerful piece, no?

A Ray-Ban aviator is timeless and sexy. And your boyfriend can wear them too which I find so hot. The clutch is one of my favorites. It’s like a little work of art.

The first bag was a gift and the second one was a present to myself. I live for this bag, it’s so classic but when you wear it cross-body, it’s a little tomboy which I secretly am at heart. The flats look like spring to me. The bright coral with the raffia looks so good on tan skin… makes me sound so shallow to say that, but a girl needs to think of all angles when she gets a pair of shoes.

I first met Diane when she interviewed me and was blown away by her. She invited me to sit beside her and we went through the brand book and she looked at me so intensely but with such warmth that I knew I wanted to work for her. She always says, 'be the woman you want to be', and over the years she's continued to make me want to evolve. Much like the clothes I wear, I feel more confident around her and in the clothes. She is a force of nature.

I wore this shell [top] to work one day and Diane came into my office and said, 'You can never wear beaded pieces during the day', and ever since then I abide by that. She feels that embroidered pieces are special and need to be worn on special occasions. But that top is dreamy and I love wearing it to a cocktail party with tailored men’s pants from Céline and basic tuxedo jacket. Balenciaga made those shoes and I found them at Woodbury commons marked down 75% - it was such a steal. They make me feel so tough and cool when I wear them.

I have been a fan of Chloé since the days of Phoebe, [that] may be why I love Céline so much. The python bag is a conversation starter and the dress I wore to a party the night before the Oscars [one year]. I love that dress. It shimmers and sparkles perfectly.

I was in London at my friend Tom’s store, Matches, and I saw this cape and couldn’t get it out of my head. I went from London to Paris and felt so chic and Parisian roaming the streets with my cape. I have a mild obsession with CHANEL costume jewelry. You can wear a white tee and jeans and layer on a few necklaces and you look insane.

Iro to me is what Isabel Marant was a few years ago when only a few people knew how brilliant it was. This jacket is so great. I ran into Scoop one night after work desperate to buy something for a dinner and found this. All my friends tried to buy it after and it was sold out!

My friend’s ex-boyfriend saw me wearing this tee and started yelling 'Sparta' at me. You’d think that would have dissuaded me from wearing it but I totally rocked it. With a pair of jeans I feel like a ferocious lionness! The Balenciaga boots were a Barneys post-holiday sale purchase and are so bad ass. And comfy! That bag is pretty much the best bag to happen to me. It’s rock and roll but classic. That bad boy is being handed down to my daughter one day…

My friend gave me all my bangles and when they jingle on my wrists I am so content. They are perched perfectly on top of my little doll from China. I was [on a trip] there with DVF, my Dad and a girlfriend and we had the best time. We bought dolls and lots of jade jewels!

The watch I bought on Net-A-Porter one afternoon. Feels manly and sexy. The necklace is so pretty and reminds me of Jennifer Aniston in 'The Breakup,' one of my favorite movies ever. I like to mix and match earrings so I sometimes wear one safety pin earring, with a diamond stud in the other ear.

My rings are sacred. My favorite one is the one that looks like a little crown on the middle finger, it was my great grandmother’s engagement ring and before that her father’s wedding band. My mother gave it to me last year and she had lost it a bunch of times, and every time it would somehow get returned to her. Last time it showed up under the neighbor’s car. We’re convinced it’s the women in our family looking out for us. It’s my good luck charm piece. I wear it when I want a little luck and love on my side. The huge turquoise ring I got in Cabo when I was there for New Years with friends years back. And the gorgeous amethyst ring is a piece of estate jewelry my mom’s friend gave me for my birthday years and years ago. The earrings are incredible, they are by my dear friends Ivona and Martina who launched their line 'I’m Jewels' and will be sold at Kirna Zabete. They are mix and match earrings and bananas sexy.

[In the] winter I would go out with friends and would hate when my purses would fall off my shoulder on top of a heavy coat, so this little clutch fits all I need for a night out – credit card, drivers licence, phone and lipgloss.
