Erica Pelosini Part II

Stylist; Contributing Fashion Editor, Harper's Bazaar; Creative Consultant. Paris

You guys, we really admire—even envy—minimalists. We swear.

You totally know the types: they have a thoughtfully selected, irritatingly well edited wardrobe that consists of just the classics, and know exactly when and where to splash out on something special. Or, you know, maybe they really get thematic with it and are the kind who can abide by an entirely monochromatic color palette. We mean, a girl can dream, right?

And while we do totally solemnly swear we respect and revere those capable of careful curation, we decidedly cannot count ourselves among them—there's just something about the siren song of unabashed, unrestrained, pile-it-all-on, magpie-worthy maximalism. The embellished, ornate and slightly outlandish, you know? And that's exactly where the likes of Erica Pelosini come in.

Given that when we first caught up with her (and raided her traveling closet), it became apparent that for NYFW, Pelosini is the kind of girl who rolls with what seemed like multiple steamer trunks of accessories alone; when she kindly offered up the wardrobe of her Paris home for us to raid, we sort of jumped at the opportunity. And let's just say that once we got up-close-and-personal with the real thing, it suddenly made complete sense why she has a little trouble, ahem, editing—you know how they say that too much of a good thing can be wonderful?

"I don't think I ever used a backpack, only Dolce & Gabbana bags and sometimes an Hermès Kelly bag from mum!" Pelosini exclaimed as we rifled through her things. And while her shoe closet was of the sort of calibre that could easily lead to cardiac arrest (we dare you to take one look and tell us differently), we soldiered through, styling Pelosini's pieces around her Paris home. Think: a Balmain collection that easily rivals Rihannas (we mean, we can only assume), enough Fausto Puglisi to dress all of Milan and a dizzying assortment of Louboutin and Zanotti pumps with signed soles.

And while Pelosini may not identify as a minimalist anytime soon, it doesn't mean she is entirely incapable of editing. Case in point? When we prompted her to pick out the pieces that mean the most to her. "I have a Givenchy dress gifted to me by Anna Dello Russo, as well as some Balmain pieces gifted to me after being backstage and being told that I'm the perfect 'Balmain girl.' Can you imagine how happy I was?" Well, uh, yeah, we can.
