Gaia Repossi

Artistic Director, Maison Repossi. Paris

Gaia Repossi has been revered by the industry for her creative eye, minimalistic aesthetic and ability to infuse a family business with a dose of modern creativity. At the age of 20, Gaia assumed the role of Artistic Director to her family's famed jewelry house, which was founded in 1925 by her grandfather. Even after three generations, the Repossi house continues to be an influential force in the fine jewelry world. The Repossi name has been synonymous with effortless style and classic pieces that have withstood the test of time. Her youthful influence took the eponymous heritage brand into a new generation by sourcing ancient, Art Deco and other influences and seamlessly transforming them into a modern age. Gaia's takeover saw the brand's collaboration with today's top tastemakers; in 2010, she debuted her "Burned Gold" collection with cult-fave Alexander Wang for his F/W '11 show and also her collab with (another industry-fave) Mr. Joseph Altuzarra for his F/W '11 show. With a background in Fine Arts (she majored in archaeology and anthropology), it's easy to see how Gaia's background has translated into thoughtful collections, which are enriched in and inspired by "ethnic silhouettes and tribal" accents. And there's one thing we love more than anything - her minimalistic aesthetic rings true in her own wardrobe. That being said, it should come as no surprise that she's a Philophile (like us) through and through. As walking G.R. models ourselves — we don't leave home without our Berbère rings — we totally can understand why Gaia's goods have been the go-to for stylists (Carine Roitfeld is a fan) and celebs alike. But don't be fooled by her black and white-infused closet; there's pops of florals in the form of a bra, blouse and jacket blossoming from the depths of her wardrobe. But, in all fairness, they are all Céline creations.

The shoes are couture. I remember going, maybe the first time I'd been to couture, kindly invited by Karl. Later I was given these. The black and white is very pretty. Karl's brilliance? To me he is the last Monsieur of a lost elegance nowadays. The bag is on a pile of ethnic jewelry books that are bibles to me. And the shoes are in our latest catalogue. Maybe it will be a lucky trick for my own path..

On screen saver of my iPad, you can see a self portrait of Jeremy Everett, my boyfriend. It was taken for a book of self portraits of artists and photographers. He hung himself on the wall and used a timer on his camera. I love the appearing sadness of the picture.

The pieces were first made for Joseph [Altuzarra]'s show, only in black. We had lunch once and he asked me what a woman's dream shoes were, and later he asked me to make a collection for his show.

The Alexander Wang pumps at first seemed a little strong for me, but in fact they are very beautiful and feminine on the feet. I remember wearing them often in New York and at a lunch I was wearing them with simple Margiela grey leggings. The ring is just a recall to the silver of the shoes. Also, the books are great. One is a compilation of Richard Serra sculptures, who is a major influence in the volumes of some of my collections. The other one you can't really see is a novel written by Fran

These are very strong. I bought the non symmetrical one cause it reminded of a kimono, a sort of response to a contemporary kimono. Being black and white they match a strict, contemporary silhouette. Sort of the classic of the future. Nicolas' work has always been remarkable. His early work was an obsession when I was a teenager.

Rose gold is a very delicate, good for summer and yet very feminine. In the picture you see a candle from a brand I love, Mitzensir, that I used to find at Colette. There is also a jar from Tokyo I put my pens in. And a card signed by Karl Lagerfeld-his support has been a blessing to me.

The flowers you see in the middle are from our florist Eric Chauvin. He does the arrangements for the house and these are the pink flowers he always does for me. On the left a funny little book on shoot of a cat in Japan I got at Dashwood Books in New York. Great idea for exposing small images.

The tote is a brown bag in leather to me. A sort of naked bag. The sandals were my first pair of heels when I turned 17. I remember getting them at Maria Luisa. They are pink lizard sandals.

I remember my mother having a similar shirt from Yves Saint Laurent, late 70's, so to me it was an obvious call. And my love note book from my boyfriend Jeremy.
