Mickey Sumner, Karla Welch, Daisy O'Dell, Erin Benach; New York & Los Angeles
While the Toronto International Film Festival seems like a seamless feat on the surface, it’s the leading ladies behind the scenes that make the magic happen. Flashing lights and red carpets aside, there’s a multitude of women hard at work on all fronts: in front of the camera, on the wardrobe design, on the styling and of course, on the ones and twos at the after party. Cue: actress Mickey Sumner (of Frances Ha and Imogene), costume designer Erin Benach (who regularly works with Ryan Gosling [relax, ladies!] on films like Drive and Blue Valentine), celebrity stylist Karla Welch (whose clients include Olivia Wilde, Hailee Steinfeld and more!) and DJ Daisy O’Dell (whose performed with Prince and Lady Gaga...enough said!). We teamed up with our lovely friends at J Brand and Holt Renfrew to showcase the powerful women who represent the brand in all the right lights. And what better way to collaborate than to highlight J Brand’s latest RTW collection and then put it all on display at Holts? We think Benach said it best: “What I love about this J Brand collection the most is that it leaves room for me to personalize it.” And we’ve got to admit, it’s amazing how different four women’s take on one cohesive collection can be. Sumner’s London-meets-New York downtown vibe paired well with J Brand’s slouchy silks and luxe leathers, while Welch’s futuristic-like abode lent itself to the sophistication of the collection’s crisp and clean aesthetic. Even Benach’s favourite J Brand knits and furs meshed well with her quirky California décor and O’Dell’s rock and roll edge shined against her records and vintage posters. We fell hard for each of the women’s individual aesthetics and well, it’s clear the final product speaks for itself. We recommend you see it in the flesh, though as it will be on display at our home away from home, Holt Refrew as an in-store exhibit from September 14th – 17th. (We know. Major FOMO for all those not in Toronto!) Oh, and if any of the pieces catch your eye, Holt Renfrew has a seriously supply... tell 'em The Coveteur sent you!
