Jeannie Lee

Owner, Satine.  Los Angeles

It was the clash of both worlds – the quirky and the sophisticated – that served as the nexus for Satine, Jeannie Lee’s Los Angeles-based unique luxury emporium. While street style blogs may be a dime a dozen these days, Satine was inspired by the real deal, the fashion forward cultures of Toyko, Paris, Sydney, New York, and LA. What started out as humble in their beginnings (they only stocked shoes and accessories) has since grown into one of the must-stop shopping destinations in Southern California. Don’t take our word for it? Just take a look through the pages of W, Nylon, Elle, WWD or Nylon for proof, as Lee’s high-end shop has been featured in the glossies more times than one can count. Satine stocks ready to wear directly from the runway (chic!!) as well as fledgling indie designers. Classic powerhouses such as Lanvin, Balenciaga, Isabel Marant, and Azzedine Alaïa mingle with cult labels including Tsumori Chisato, Rue du Mail, and Mirco Giovaninni, only adding to the burgeoning artistic LA design scene. One trip to Satine, and your preconceived notions will be dismissed faster than you can say Balmain! While Lee may not play by the rules, there’s one she abides by: she follows the trend only to break it, only stocking the hardest to find drool-worthy items. Amen sister!

These flats are as comfortable as tennis shoes. I like them because they're sleek and feminine.

Shoes, CHANEL

These shoes were our best-selling shoe when we opened the store. It was the night of the opening party and as fate would have it, we had one pair left in my size. I took it as a sign from the fashion gods and wore them that night.

My style is minimal and understated—if I wear color, it tends to be in the accessories. I love CHANEL but like to mix it up with Ksubi jeans or cut-off denim shorts to keep it from being so precious. The pink cuff is from my first buying trip and has great sentimental value.

This bag was actually an impulse purchase on one of my Paris buying trips and is now one of my favorite bags. I wear it as if it were a black bag. The more mismatched, the better.

I got the bag from a designer vintage store in Tokyo. The buyer there has the best eye and has curated a brilliant selection of designer vintage. The boots are so comfortable and cozy and look really cute with skirts. They are like designer UGG boots.

This ring was a gift from my most-stylish friend (and the creative director of the Satine label) Kelly Sawyer. It's quite possibly the coolest thing I own. The Kewpie dolls are from Tokyo. They come in a box with a question mark on it, so you never know which one you are getting until you open it. It has been quite a challenge trying to collect the entire set.

I do not own a basic black pump. My philosophy is that a black high-heel shoe should always have some interesting detail. The silhouette and heel are both very architectural, which I think makes them interesting.

My cousin who lives in Seoul is an avid CHANEL collector. She bought this bag about 18 years ago, and when I went to visit her, I found it at the bottom of the guest room closet. My cousin gave me the bag as a surprise going away gift.

I had been looking everywhere for these vintage Goyard trunks and finally found them in a Paris flea market the day before flying back to the States. I literally went at 6:30am on the day I was flying back to pick them up. It was definitely worth all the trouble.
