Before we got busy digging through Jen Atkin and Mike Rosenthal's closets, we spent the week running around L.A. with them. From Soho House with the WhoWhatWear duo and Katie Goodwin to the Polo Lounge with our girl Anita Ko, we wined and dined with the West Coast couple before getting way deep in their way cool home. Atkin welcomed us with a bottle of rosé and a burger in hand, breaking her Pressed Juicery kick in honour of The Coveteur's Cali invasion. Even Gisele Bündchen's hair stylist, David von Cannon stopped by to join in on the fun. Atkin showered us with candy and then hooked us onto Pressed, which we slightly hate her for; weaning ourselves off the stuff has been difficult with daily cravings. Atkin—the resident hair stylist to the stars—has a long list of celebrity clients that includes: Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara, Christina Hendricks, Nicole Richie, Cindy Crawford...the list goes on. When she's not styling her clients, Atkin can be found at Lorraine Schwartz's Shabbat dinners or racing go-karts in high heels with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West in Paris. (Yes, that really happened.) Her equally stylish and talented boyfriend, photographer Mike Rosenthal, had the day off from shooting the likes of Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard, and spent the afternoon showing us his crazy McQueen kicks and prized collection of movie posters. We've got to hand it to a guy who's willing to convert his man-cave into a custom-designed, walk-in closet for his fashion-obsessed girlfriend. Take note, boys. Judging from their recent joined 90s-themed birthday bash, we felt it was safe to suggest a Coveteur first: styling the couple in matching robes for their portrait. They joyfully agreed and got right into character. With every Alaïa and Louboutin we picked up, Atkin pulled a 'Jake Davis' insisting we take it. “You want it? It’s yours!” she exclaimed. We were like little kids in a candy store. In fact, we almost missed our flight home. We jetted from Atkinthal’s to the airport with just minutes to spare, sneaking her Célines into our suitcase on the way out. Just kidding.
It's very important to make sure that your shoe closet is deep enough to fit a shoe behind another shoe. I learned that a long time ago and it helped me make room for more little babies to come home. My favourites are Alaïa and Givenchy shoes. Louboutin and YSL come next. I made a decision a long time ago to not have kids and build my shoe collection for my gays.
The amazing, Linda Koopersmith designed my closet and sends someone to keep it organized every two weeks. She's a god-send and has worked with a lot of my clients: Minka Kelly, Sofia Vergara, Christina Hendricks, Mindy Kaling and AnnaLynne McCord
I've tried to edit my shoes down to the ones I wear pretty regularly. I also try to make a point of wearing pairs that have been neglected. The regulars? McQueen sneakers, Varvatos-Converse high tops and Common Projects.
Mike and I are both Pisces who are known for loving shoes. I bought the feather ones in Paris and the boots were a gift from my best friend, Fajer who works at Alaïa.

Katherine Power of WhoWhatWear and I were at New York Fashion Week and had time for a quick lunch break before the Rachel Zoe presentation. A lot went down in those 30 minutes. Let's just say, we are never allowed to go into the Céline store together again.
My friend Christina Tang from Kova and T is amazing. She always hooks me up with the best shit. These are serious booty shorts and I love them. Mike's red leather pants? He's been mocked, ridiculed and threatened for wearing them. We've almost broken up over them, but his inner Kanye will not let him part with those pants. There's a party in Mike's red leather pants and I can hear them playing Michael Jackson's "Thriller," the extended version. – Jen
I have worn those bad boys all year long. I got them at this great resale store in Vegas. It's at the end of the strip and they sell Céline, Givenchy and Alaïa. It's called Designer Fashion Clearance. It's almost worth a flight to Vegas just to go there. I did all of the hair featured in the "Room 23" book.
Who doesn't love sneakers? I have always loved the limited-run Adidas. I think the green ones are just regular Adidas Campus and the white/reds are the Adidas Gazelle Vintage Londons. They're so cool and graphic.
I saw these on a fashion blog and tracked them down. I wore them once to work and Sofia Vergara and her makeup artist, Kayleen McAdams were brutally honest and told me they don't work on me. My hipster dreams were forever crushed. To be honest, I did feel a bit like a construction worker in them. Mike and I have an amazing record collection spanning from Hall and Oates to Barbara Streisand; we just don't own a record player.
These sneakers are perfection. I bought them a couple years ago at the store in West Hollywood. They had an aura and were speaking to me. The Heaven sign is by British artist Anthony James and I bought it at a charity auction for The Art of Elysium.
These shoes are everything. I purchased them from my favorite, secret store, Gabay's, a vintage shop in NYC. They receive and sell shoes and bags from Bergdorf's that are slighty damaged. The picture behind the shoes is hottie-tottie Luke Grimes, who was shot by Mr. Mike Rosenthal.
I was on a commercial shoot with Sofia Vergara in Miami and she let me sneak away to the Bal Harbour shops to buy a Céline tote. She understood my need for this bag was similar to the feeling Angelina Jolie gets when she's about to adopt a child. This bag filled a void in my heart for at least another three to four weeks. I love the colour. It's so '80s and goes with nothing, so therefore it goes with everything. – Jen
I bought this bag so that I would look chic on my vacation in the south of France. As I was getting into a boat, I slip backwards and fall into the water in front of all the sunbathers. I got the biggest bruise of my life, but the patent handbag survived! I'm pretty sure Mike reached out to grab the handle of the bag and not my hand...he's well-trained.
When Mike gets stressed out, he—like most infants—goes straight for the boob. This amazing pic was taken by Mike. It is one of my favourites from his Lip Series. – Jen
Photos are my favourite and I started an inspiration wall about three years ago. Some of my favourites are an amazing editorial of Madonna by Basquiat, a shoot that my good friend John Galliano and Alexis Roche did for Vogue, and my own pictures from a Kate Moss shrine at the V.I.P Room in St. Tropez. I took the full frontal disco picture at a downtown disco club in Los Angeles. That night was magical. Mike and I got to have a 'Vogue off' with Britney Spears post-breakdown.
Ali Froley and Renata Baiman do PR for Aldo and always keep me in the know when good stuff is coming out. The designs have been amazing over the past few years. – Jen
I broke in the red Atwoods at my best friend, Lindsay Johnson's wedding. Who says only hookers and little girls can wear red shoes? I like to think I am a bit of both.

These shoes have been to the Boom Boom Room many many times during New York Fashion Week. The two highlights in my shoe career are when I got to complain to Christian Louboutin in Cannes about his shoes giving me blisters ,and when I got to kiss Brian Atwood on the cheek at the Met Ball in NYC. I gave the Goyard to Mike for his 32nd birthday while we were in Paris. It was one of 33 made and I couldn't resist—nor pay my rent that month.

I always go to the back boutique at Alaïa in Paris and treat myself to a dope pair of shoes. When you are in that boutique, Mr. Alaïa makes you feel like it's 1996, you are Naomi Campbell and you've got a Harper's Bazaar shoot coming up; you don't care about the cost. A lot of these shoes I don't want to ruin and therefore have never seen the light of day. I'm planning on being a chic 80-year-old who gets way too dressed up for family gatherings. This bag is one of those items. I bought it in Paris and have protected it in my closet like my life depends on it.

Anita Ko is the most chic thing in Los Angeles. She makes you want to work harder, be nicer to your boyfriend and get a spike bracelet, so that you can be part of the Anita Ko Club. It's kind of like Troop Beverly Hills, but with better jewelry. Lorraine Schwartz is my Jewish fairy godmother. I'm very close to her and wear my evil eye bracelet as protection every day. The happy face is from her new "2BHappy" collection. I've honestly met most of my best clients and friends at her Shabbat dinners. The "J" was another gift from my best girlfriend, Fajer Alrajaan. The rest of my jewelry is from Rose Ark. Kathy Azarmi has the best collection of designers from all over the world. She's like LA's version of Dover Street Market in London. I started keeping my invites and credentials from backstage at fashion shows five years ago. It's a trip that takes me down memory lane and reminds me of coughing up hairspray for three days after the McQueen show. Fashion Week in Paris is what keeps me inspired throughout the year, and getting to work with Guido is like being in hair university. He's a master instructor. I also just got to ride go-karts with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian after his show—in heels.
