Jennifer Zuccarini

Founder, Fleur du Mal. New York

Anyone who's even vaguely familiar with the state of Manhattan real estate know how to appreciate a good gem. If it's not cockroach-infested, the size of a closet and doesn't require a half-dozen roommates to make the rent, well, it's nothing short of a miracle. Fast forward to us walking into Fleur du Mal designer Jennifer Zuccarini's dreamy Soho walk-up and our jaws collectively dropping almost the moment we walked through the door—yeah, let's just say that girl lucked out hard. (Even if it does leave you out of breath after walking five flights of stairs!)

Zuccarini is kind of a legend among lingerie-minded circles, after all, she just so happens to be the Co-Founder and one-time Creative Director of Kiki De Montparnasse and the former Design Director of Victoria's Secret. Oh, and she's Canadian! As we made ourselves at home in her super cool former-apartment-turned-studio-slash-Fleur du Mal-headquarters, we were able to fully appreciate just how perfectly in tune the space was with Zuccarini's design aesthetic. Do you have your Pinterest-trigger finger at the ready? Think: dreamy mood boards filled with inspiration for future collections with fabric swatches and tears from editorials, exposed brick, vintage wallpaper, a totally futuristic fireplace, and oh yeah, one seriously mean coffee table book game.

The same elements extend to Zuccarini's wardrobe, too. We found everything from a sequinned vintage mini-dress covered in spangling stars to a gold-chain lock Céline cuff and plenty of vintage Yves Saint Laurent and CHANEL thrown in for good measure. Plus, she knows a good shoe when she sees it. Among her collection: Sequinned, strappy, petal pink sandals from Tom Ford and towering flower-studded pumps by Charlotte Olympia (which we briefly contemplated, ahem, borrowing). We also admittedly left as fully-fledged Fleur du Mal freaks—we just can't put our finger on whether it was the shiny satin bunny ears, stripy separates, leather triangle bra or the full-length lace jumpsuit that did it.
