My sister Lisa Gnat and I coauthored two best-selling cookbooks (Bite Me and Bite Me Too) dedicated to answering the age-old question, “What’s for Dinner?” Always hungry for more, we were lucky enough to find our third musketeer in tastemaker Jane Apor –our trio works to bring easy, chic, fun and affordable lifestyle and entertaining ideas to life.

Photography speaks to me. I think ours are the only cookbooks to house food shots alongside fine art photos by such greats as David LaChapelle, Miles Aldridge and Melvin Sokolsky. On my walls, my personal favorites include works by Albert Watson, Frank Horvat, William Klein and Lillian Bassman, with each representing a birthday, anniversary, Valentine’s day shared with my husband –to us, photos are the greatest gifts. My daughters are hoping their feet stop growing at size 8-1/2. I, on the other hand, hope they halt at 7 or go straight to size 10 (I’m better at sharing my Rice Krispie Square Milkshake than my footwear). I still have my first pair of designer shoes –a 20-year-old pair of Ferragamo’s with red lacquer wedge heels and black and white striped straps. I definitely started with a bang. Together with my husband, I love visiting the Staley-Wise Gallery in New York, Fahey/Klein in California and Holden Luntz in Palm Beach. Why do I love Pez? Let me count the ways –they’re playful, happy, colorful, full of candy, and 4-inch conversation pieces in my kitchen. Friends and family add to my collection I started last year, and my daughters carefully and artfully color block them with their little hands… but, be careful… if they get jostled, they fall like dominos. This Miles Aldridge photo was a 40th birthday present from my sister. We used this incredible image in ‘Bite Me’ cookbook to represent our brunch section titled ‘Join Me: The Morning After.’ While many questioned my sanity at putting an image of a cigarette stubbed out in a sunny side up, to me food and art are one, working together, evoking feelings and memories. I liberated these one-of-a-kind ice cream sculptures from my parent’s home. They began collecting them from a New York artist in the ‘70s and over time, they filled my childhood kitchen and now they stand in my own kitchen.
