Laetitia Crahay

Jewelry Director, CHANEL & Artistic Director, Maison Michel. Paris

It's hardly a secret at this point, so we’re just going to come clean
and say it flat out: We have a little bit of a thing for CHANEL. We've
seen our fair share of 2.55 (read: hundreds? Thousands?) in our day.
And while we've been lucky enough to get in a few seconds of hang time
with Uncle Karl, we've been eager to meet his right-hand
woman—Laetitia Crahay. Oh, and she also happens to be the brains
behind those lacy, veiled bunny ears. Yeah, you know the ones. Meet
the Artistic Director of Maison Michel. (How she finds the time, we
don’t know.) We've been longtime admirers of how Crahay has been able
to infuse her signature sense of irreverence and humor into both of
the historied brands.

And so during our latest jaunt in Paris, we made it our mission to hit
up Crahay's crib, in collaboration with our girl Lyna Ahanda from
LURVE Magazine. Upon our arrival, Crahay welcomed us in with champagne and snacks, introducing us to her make-up artist and adorable daughter Theodora.

Crahay is at once incredibly chic (a word we don't use lightly) and
yet completely cool and insouciant. She casually strutted her stuff in
a strappy Anthony Vaccarello dress while we toured her home. While the
majority of Crahay's wardrobe reads like a walking tour of her history
at both CHANEL and Maison Michel, she's someone who exhibits equal
admiration for boundary-pushing designers with pieces by Rei Kawakubo,
Nicolas Ghesquière and Christopher Kane among her collection. A quick
trip over to her bedroom unearthed stacks on stacks of Maison Michel
boxes, filled with said lacey bunny ears and embellished trilby's and
top hats that Crahay has made synonymous with the house.

We wrapped our shoot with (more) champagne and music, lingering long
after we'd finished shooting just to take in Crahay's entire vibe. But
can you really blame us?
