Lauren Conrad

Lauren Conrad

Designer.  Los Angeles

We all remember this name and face, right? Lauren Conrad grew up before our eyes as star of MTV’s Laguna Beach and The Hills. From her love triangle with the Kristin and “Ste-phen!” (we can just hear Kristin saying it now) to her days at Teen Vogue, L.C. has gone on to do many more notable endeavors beyond the small screen. The Hills was just a sneak peek at Conrad’s prolific design career to come. Two years after launching The Lauren Conrad Collection in 2007, she debuted her second line, LC Lauren Conrad – a diffusion collection exclusively for Kohl’s. Her latest design project, Paper Crown is a perfect translation of Conrad’s signature style into a specialty line of vintage and lingerie-inspired pieces. Although she’s a self-declared "non-romantic," the super feminine collection definitely reeks of romance and ethereal goodness - a thread that continues throughout her personal space. And L.C. has a few other reputable things on her resume aside from designing. Her first novel, “L.A. Candy” debuted at #1 on The New York Times Best Sellers List, as did her second scribe, “Sweet Little Lies.” Since then she’s penned the book, “Sugar and Spice” and “Lauren Conrad Style,” and has two other books in the works. All in a day’s work. It’s clear that the TV star-turned-designer-turned best selling author has an amazing sense of entrepreneurial skills, which we truly admire. We’ve been big fans of L.C. since the days of MTV's The After Show, co-hosted by our boy, Dan Levy. But the fandemonium goes both ways here; Conrad was known for rocking our very own Erin Kleinberg's namesake clothing line since the brand's beginning. So we weren’t surprised when we got a taste of the rest of her Chanel-filled closet. Conrad's a true Cali girl at heart – whimsical maxi dresses, crochet crop tops and blush-coloured pieces… Sounds like a hazy daydream, no? That said, let us whisk you away…

I found this backpack at a vintage expo I go to a couple times a year. I wear it every time I go to Disneyland or any other similar outing. It was a pretty fun find.

I love maxi dresses and think they are such versatile and romantic pieces. I wore this nude, tiered chiffon dress (from my first collection for paper crown) with a sash to a ball held at the National History Museum. The silk dress on the right I wore for a photoshoot at my home in Laguna. In the center is a vintage nightgown – I love the little details and bias cut of this particular piece.

I got this top two years ago. I removed the tag because it was visible so the designer remains a mystery.

I got these shoes a couple years ago because I was obsessed with the color. Looking around, it's pretty evident. I love filling bookshelves with old books. I shop at vintage stores and buy stacks in similar colors.

I adore Audrey Hepburn, and have many books about her around my apartment. I stole these sunglasses off one of my guy friends on the 4th of July (shhhhhh) now they are one of my favorite pairs.

I love anything with a bow on them, so I had to have these flats.

A perfect example of how I love pulling inspiration from vintage pieces in my work. I collect vintage sleepwear and often look to them for fabrication, details and prints. For this set, I wanted to do a sweet cami and high-waisted short that could be worn together or as separates. I had a specific type of dot in mind for this original print – I first drew out the scale on a post it note. As for the wall, I don't like too much blank space around me and one day decided (after one too many cups of coffee) to tear all the pages out of a book and paste them up there. I like it because when we open the windows the pages flutter and it gives the room movement.

These shoes were my favorite this winter. I wore them all the time with tights or black skinnies.

Clearly, I have a fascination with CHANEL. I began collecting old perfume bottles a few years back because I thought they were so pretty. The crown is (embarrassingly) from when I was on the homecoming court in high school.

I bought myself this ring as a gift when my first book made the NY Times Best-Seller list. It's one of my favorite pieces I own. I cut out this note because it spoke to the anti-romantic inside of me – thought it was funny.

I love vintage jewelry, not only to wear but also to hang around the space I'm in. I usually have luck at flea markets or The Way We Wore. The necklace in the center is one of my favorites and often makes appearances in paper crown lookbooks. It's an old hair barrette turned into a necklace. When I am designing for LC Lauren Conrad jewelry, most of the collection is inspired by vintage pieces.

Phillip Lim is my favorite designer of all time. I like the shoulder detailing on this top because it reminded me of a sea anemone.

I picked up this bag recently, because it felt glamorous—but still cool with the chain details. I wear this bag with simpler outfits, allowing it to be the statement.

This clutch was in my favorite color and I had to have it. The first time I wore it someone spilled red wine all over it. Kind of heart-breaking, but luckily it was saved.

I found these in Capri while vacationing in Italy with my family a few years ago. They are more art than footwear. I've only worn them a couple of times because they are so delicate. I love how they dance as you walk.
