I love maxi dresses and think they are such versatile and romantic pieces. I wore this nude, tiered chiffon dress (from my first collection for paper crown) with a sash to a ball held at the National History Museum. A perfect example of how I love pulling inspiration from vintage pieces in my work. I collect vintage sleepwear and often look to them for fabrication, details and prints. For this set, I wanted to do a sweet cami and high-waisted short that could be worn together or as separates. I had a specific type of dot in mind for this original print – I first drew out the scale on a post it note. As for the wall, I don't like too much blank space around me and one day decided (after one too many cups of coffee) to tear all the pages out of a book and paste them up there. I love vintage jewelry, not only to wear but also to hang around the space I'm in. I usually have luck at flea markets or The Way We Wore. The necklace in the center is one of my favorites and often makes appearances in paper crown lookbooks. It's an old hair barrette turned into a necklace.
