Partner, Starworks Artists. Los Angeles
As one of the partners at Starworks Artists, an agency representing the cream of the crop in styling, hair and make-up, Lisa Walker knows good talent when she sees it. Born in New York, she took a leap of faith and moved to LA with her then-boyfriend (and now husband) where she got her start in the field of talent representation by honing her skills as an assistant at Smashbox Beauty, an agency inside the confines of L.A’s Smashbox Studios. Thrown into the mix, Walker was fortunate enough to work alongside some of the most influential power players in the realm of photography – providing her a taste of what would soon be her career. Married for 8 years to Justin Walker, it was he who gave Lisa the courage and drive to shake things up – venturing out on her own and setting up her own company…while being six months pregnant. We’ve already featured a slew of her clients in some of our favorite galleries (Merritt Elliott, Emily Current, Cher Coulter & Adir Abergel) but now it’s time we paid a little visit to the gatekeeper over at SWA. From her custom Goyard to her killer Wasteland-found Marc Jacobs jacket (sometimes dreams to come true), we get a real kick out of Ms. Walker’s independent and individualized style. It’s a vintage bag, courtesy of her mother, that provides sentimental value, and in fact, fuels her need to hold on to pretty much everything. While not a hoarder (her closet is impeccably edited and organized), she’s a deviant of her mother’s habits. “My Mom is not one to hold onto things. In fact I believe to this day her need to give things away fuels my need to hold onto to everything! This bag is one of few things that she kept and gave to me, I believe she wore it on a date with my Dad, they are married fifty years this May, so it holds a special place in my heart and closet”. But to put it lightly, it’s a mutual girl-crush that we both share that clearly embodies our immediate connection: Isabel Marant. And while Walker said it first, we undeniably agree: “Oh Ms. Marant, how I love you so very much”.
