My husband built and organized my shoe closet as a birthday gift while I was away; this is only half of it and I’ve already outgrown it. I rotate my faves at the time so I can clearly see them.

Stylist. Toronto
One of our favorite veterans of the Canadian fashion scene is Liz Cabral, FLARE Magazine’s fierce Fashion Director. She’s responsible for setting the tone of the publication, and does so by creating, producing, and styling all the fashion well stories (but she’s the first to admit, she lends heavily on her killer team of fashion editors for much of the magazine’s success). She’s been at FLARE for over seven years, and throughout her tenure at our nations influential pub, has styled countless celebrities and models, but bad ass chicks like Lara Stone, Daria and Doutzen really get her creative juices flowing. While the location may set the stage (Shanghai, Paris, Puglia, New York, LA and even the Yukon Territories), it’s Cabral’s sense of what women want that helps bring her editorials to life. Her own personal style? She’s pinpointed her daily get ups as “avant chic”, mixing harder pieces by Rick Owens with classic and sophisticated pieces by Celine or Chanel. Instead of decorating her wrists and neck with sparkly gems (she's indicated she's not a "jewelry wearer"), she let's the shoes do all the talking. They say these boots are made for walkin', but Nancy Sinatra clearly hasn't seen Mrs. Cabral rock her Aldo x Julian Louie kicks.

I forgot I even owned these shoes! I bought them over ten years ago. Funny how the nail head detail feels so right now.

I love the novelty of this skirt. I think it’s a bit of a collector’s item. I’ve been living in these shirts all year! I have multiple colors...they’re the perfect basic.

The purse is too small to carry much in, but I love the shape. I’ve only worn this dress once: the day I took my picture for my work, ID so it lives on forever in my wallet! All the art is Canadian-born Marcel Dzama.

The shoes on the left were my first purchase after Phoebe Philo took over. I’ve basically lusted after everything she’s designed and treat myself to one piece a season. The other shoes are like a moving art installation with the metal and crystal studded heel. The wallet is too flashy for everyday but works as a clutch for evening.

This wall is a catch all for show invites that I love—some are so great I hate throwing them away. The Peter Lindbergh pics of Linda and Tatjana remind me of when my love affair with fashion started in the early 90s. These shoes were an impulse buy and are killer; they hurt like hell!

I’d never thought of wearing these three pieces together. The leopard boots are a bit of a departure for me, but they’re fun. I wore them all through Coachella.

These pieces together are so French seaside! I adore the mini bag: it’s the perfect hands-free purse for dancing. Clearly I loved the Louboutin flats...they’ve seen better days. I was unsure of the red laces when I bought them, but grew to totally love them. The jacket is a classic. I’ll wear it, put it away for years and when I bring it back out, it feels just as current.

This photo was a wedding gift from photographer Max Abadian. It’s a shot of Daria from a shoot we did years ago. I love that there’s a super model hiding under all that hair. Pretty sure the shoes she’s wearing are from the same season as the silver ones I own on top.

I feel like these shoes have a Victorian meets S&M thing happening. But maybe that’s just me...

The top is vintage. It’s actually falling apart, but I can’t bear to part with it. I generally bypassed the whole stud trend, but I love the off color of this bracelet.

The feather dress was a gift from Kirk and Stephen; the boys are the sweetest. The dress’s style name was actually “The Liz” and was inspired by me. I was having a blush moment a couple years ago, thus the pink heels.

I’m afraid I’m starting to look like a hoarder. These jackets transcend age and style, and that’s why you can never have too many of them. I’m crazy about the ribbon waist on this blazer. Now in my thirties, I edge it up with Comme des Garçons or Rick Owens, but in my seventies I’ll likely be wearing it with head to toe CHANEL or a little Yohji. The frame on the left contains an invitation from Alexander McQueen’s “The Girl Who Lived in the Tree” show.

By the end of a shooting season I’m generally over most things, but I was coveting this coat since the moment I shot it for a shoot on Tasha Tilberg. I found it on sale end of season and still loved it. That was a sign I had to have it. It’s never been this close to the kitchen before.

I have a cropped sweater obsession, just bought three of them at once. The faux python gloves look deceivingly expensive and look great with every coat I own. The wallet I’ve had for over ten years and I swear it never ages...so classic and not played out. The sequined belt is actually from a dress that I wore to my civil wedding ceremony in Italy. The sunglasses need no explaining, they’re classics.
