Fashion Market Editor, Teen Vogue.  New York

"I've been at Teen Vogue for almost 7 years! I interned while at school at Parsons School of Design and was hired as a fashion assistant, a month before graduating! From Fashion Assistant I was promoted to Associate Market Editor, and a year ago to Fashion Market Editor. My dad went from intern to Vice President of his company, and that inspires me. I hope to someday be Teen Vogue's EIC."

This photo is stunning and I feel like the dress will never look as good on me as it does in the sunshine of the window! My mom bought it for me at one of the only chic stores in my hometown of Milwaukee, Falcoln. It had little black bows all over it, which I removed because I liked the simplicity of the black cuffs and tiered hem. Its pretty sheer, I haven’t quite figured out how to wear it, but the image is stunning.

I have taken 'custody' of this dress from a friend's showroom. Caroline's dresses are the epitome of my favorite things: white, lace and a hint of sparkle. I wore this dress on a normal Tuesday, and saw my friend, her publicist, out that night. He screamed, "Are you crazy? That dress is a wedding dress, Caroline's dresses are for weddings, not for day dresses!" I simply told him to remember whom he was speaking to, and that what I wear to the grocery store on the weekend is probably what most people wear to weddings.

I found this bag hiding away at Barney's during the standard sale extravaganza. The sales staff was confused as to where I even found it. Lucky girl! I love that it is grey, and thus you can really wear it with anything.

If you don't have a boyfriend to buy you a beautiful bag, you buy it yourself! I treated myself to this bag this summer, and I am in love with it. I love how it is subtle leopard print, makes a statement, but doesn't detract from the classic nature of a 'happy' bag. I love the beautiful grosgrain ribbon woven in the gold chain; it's a little sloppy, but chic. I also think the patent leather shoulder strap makes it fresh. Good thing that door has three locks, because that bag was quite the investment and needs to be kept safe!

My two favorite types of necklaces come from flea markets and second hand stores. I love layering gold charms and lockets on a gold chain, and I love vintage crystal necklaces. I layer these types of necklaces a lot.

The most classic bag I own, and my best purchase. I stopped using it recently because I was using it too much and it was getting worn. It’s just a beautiful shape.

This dress was given to me by a friend and former PR director. I thought it was beautiful, but quite conservative as it's basically just a shirt dress. However, not to be tooting my own horn, but when I wear this dress, men on the street go legit insane. The cat-calls are out of control. I really cannot figure it out! I wear it with a studded belt and a pair of my platform heels. I guess maybe because it sort of slits all the way up my leg when I walk? Either way, for sure forever my 'even a whistle from a construction worker makes me feel good' dress.

These shoes were once in a giveaway when I was an intern and though I hardly wear flats, I loved these sad little clown shoes!

Mom says 'if you've got it, flaunt it'. I guess my best quality is my legs, therefore, I love a little mini. I absolutely hate wearing pants, thus my skirt and dress collection is intense. I love rich fabric a-line mini skirts, and to be honest I always just pair it with a simple T-shirt, or basic cashmere crew neck. It definitely reflects how I dress today, find something that works and stick with it!

My bracelets started when I was an ambitious intern. We were shooting a soft and pretty, Liberty floral story in Buenos Aires and the accessories editor couldn't get in the bracelets she wanted to use because they were too expensive. I told my boss that I could easily replicate the bracelets, as I had always played around with jewelry. She gave me her corporate card and I stocked up at B&J fabrics. The bracelets were shot in almost every look. Charlotte Ronson saw the story and contacted me to sell them at her store in N.Y.C. From there, my little sweatshop was born. I started playing around with more fabrics and crystals and my little 'business' grew. They have been shot in Teen Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan, New York Magazine and Glamour. I am very OCD about it and refuse to have anyone help me make them or to officially go into proper production, for me making the bracelets is a creative outlet and I love it. For me, it's less about a successful business, and more about being creative and having gifts for my friends and contributing to editorials.

I found this bracelet at a random 'wholesale/retail' store on 6th Avenue. The little bear was sparkling in the window and I fell in love. I immediately bought one for me and one for my best friend, as I talked the girl into a two for one deal. I think it's made of puffy paint, and basically weighs my entire arm down, but who can resist a rhinestone bear?

I'm inspired by young designers, and Jason's talent and company excite me. The cape is one of my favorite pieces he has ever made. He used to only make little dresses, when he decided to take a risk and go for fur and leather, I was elated.

Teen Vogue belts everything. Any excuse to add an accessory to a shoot! I have quite the collection as I have learned sometimes a look just needs a shock of color or direction from a belt. I wear the black and white belt the most often as it fits my natural waist, where I wear most belts, very well.

From my dad and my brother! I was impressed when they picked these out for me and my new apartment. I like how these are a little chipped and warn, and of course, pink is my favorite color. Until I started working at Teen Vogue, I was always Mary Kate, or my family nickname, Kater. But in the fashion industry, everyone calls me MK. I can't say I ever wanted to be called MK, but now I do love it.
