The Beyond: Pretty Fly For A Small Fry

We're keeping it "All in the Glamily" by flipping through our personal family photo albums and reminiscing about our stylish younger years - because the playground was our catwalk.

In honor of “Kids Week” on The Coveteur, we thought why not take a trip down memory lane to see where our penchant for prints, polka dots and pops of color really came from. Besides, #TBT only happens once a week and ‘90s nostalgia makes the heart grow fonder? (Am I right, or am I right?)

First up to bat: me. While I wasn’t lucky enough to have an “uncle” named Karl who showered me in CHANEL while still in diapers (see: studly infant muse, Hudson Kroenig), my ‘rents did a damn good job of dressing me on trend. Above, I am sporting a pre-Carven, although pretty Carven-esque day dress, Peter Pan collar and all! The look is profound; in reality, I’m pretty sure I pooped my pants in my Depends that day. My printed pants phase began way back when, which can hardly be called “a phase” given the fact that I’m still rocking printed pants on a daily basis… including, right now. Photo two is very reminiscent of the Opening Ceremony pants we shot at Brady Cunningham’s pad back in 2011. Needless to say (and not brag or anything), but I was a style star straight from the womb.

Next up is Mr. Jake “Swag” Rosenberg. Yes ladies, our oh-so-handsome resident photog was just as cute back then as he is now. How could the baby biddies in the sandbox not be all goo-goo, ga-ga over the blondie in the chambray alphabet-print onesie, equipped with red leather patchwork Velcro’s? How very Jeremy Scott of him! Velcro’s were everything at that age. Not so sure he had the playground swooning for him around age five: that pink Roots sweatshirt paired with tie-dye palazzo pants were definitely… uh, a statement? The playground is your catwalk, Jake; though we’re glad to see he played with a solid Pantone palette throughout his younger years.

Finally, my other half and Cov-co-founder, Steph Mark, rolls in with her first get-up, looking a helluva lot like an ensemble Anna Dello Russo would wear to an Erdem show today –full fascinator, peplum and silk bows in effect. Pretty fly for a small fry, Steph. Her last look was majorly on trend with a nod to the Amish-inspired looks we saw at the most recent presentation at Céline –way to be, Stephy.
