We’ve been following Fashion Toast, Rumi Neely’s style blog, since way back when it was a little eBay shop full of vintage treasures. Jeffrey Campbell Litas aside, Rumi exemplifies all the essential blogger qualities: the bang-on ombré (trust us, she had it way before it was “a thing”), the chunky wedges, the sheer blouses, the pouty lips, the oversized frames…do we really need to go on? She’s the one in the front row replacing veteran editors and the one snapping photos of herself in whimsical outfits alongside her blogger bestie, Bryan Boy.The epitome of west coast style, Neely’s L.A. pad was white, bright, simple, and lush, complete with subtle blush flowers, a gorgeous cream chandelier and a light wood table that served as our shoots base camp. The barefoot beauty was rocking a casual Vanessa Bruno dress at our shoot and toured us around her pad, showing off her multiple closets. Neely’s also got a modeling gig going on, too, which made Jake’s job a B-R-E-E-Z-E. She coyly posed for Jake’s camera in girly frocks and furry hats, even picking up a racket for an impromptu game of badminton. Neely even welcomed a surprise visitor who swung by: Ben Baller, in the flesh. (Check his Cov feature, kids. Guaranteed to blow your brains.)
I've been a little bit on autopilot with my shoes; it's either a nude sandal or Isabel Marant sneakers. I usually pick out my clothes first, unless I'm frothing at the mouth excited about a new pair I've just gotten.
I shop a lot online! I spend about 80% of my time breaking down cardboard boxes. Shopbop and Net-A-Porter's 'What's New' sections are very much bookmarked on my browser. In L.A. I love Barney's in Beverly Hills, Opening Ceremony, and Creatures of Comfort, and my latest shop I fell in love with in New York is Catbird. It's the best for tiny invisible-type jewelry.
Right now I'm wearing a lot of Hortense and Catbird and Jennifer Zeuner; more delicate pieces are my mood for some reason. Mr. Kate is a favorite too: she does the best earrings and bracelets that look sort of like a nymph would approve of them. Diptyque Philosykos is my go-to scent. I love that it's not too sweet.
I discovered [The Reformation] pretty recently but have since let take over my closet. They have a store on Melrose and there's always something interesting and skimpy to pick up, always. The shorts suit I've worn together, also do-able separately so that's handy. I like that it's this neon green CHANEL on crack sort of thing. Right now I'm loving Mark Twain's autobiography and skimming through Sante D'Orazio's photography book A Private View. It's quite sexy.
This jacket is this weirdly sexy super tight take on the classic motorcycle with removable sleeves because why not. I remember layering it under everything during one of the coldest NYFWs I've experienced so maybe it's saved my life. I never travel without a biker jacket though, but not necessarily because of that.

Jacket and Black and Silver Bag, Alexander Wang; Black Clasp Bag, Proenza Schouler
I keep on banishing more and more things from my bag so it's gotten pretty boring. What survived are the tiny Caudalie Beauty Elixir, Lucas Papaw Ointment, a highlighter like NARS The Multiple or something in case I want to look special all of a sudden, an assortment of rings, iPhone, and keys.
Polka Dot Pants, Madewell x Alexa Chung; Cream Blouse, Sea New York; Red Lace Dress, Lover; Pink Slip Dress, The Reformation; Sheer White Top, One Teaspoon; Cream Lace Dress, Topshop; Brown Dress, Kahlo
I bought these in Paris [one] fashion week, they're so glossy and geisha-appropriate. Boys hate them but it's good to provide little challenges now and then.
This PS11 was just a matter of having worn my black one into the ground and also the recurring thought that I wished it was a little bit smaller. The brown is super casual, perfect for every day here in L.A. I'm obsessed with all that Proenza stands for. Their aesthetic is just that perfect blend of modern and wearable and bad-ass and grungy.
I'm not really one or the other when it comes to heels or flats. It's more about the time and the place for me. I do think that the same outfit would look alright with all three of these though. My favorite look that I've put together with the Burberry wedges is a cream dress and a burgundy velvet blazer, from last fall. So strange how easy it is to remember these things versus seemingly more important stuff, right?
These sandals are the best, actually the perfect shoe. The pumps are very sleek and interesting to look at on the foot. I don't really overthink anything when shopping so most of my shoes are just what stuck out to me instinctually (really pretentious way of saying my brain is simple and moronic).

Sandals, Prada; Pumps, Alexander Wang; Backpack, Vintage CHANEL
Oversized blouses are pretty much all that matter to me, and these two are so beautifully done. The cream one is the most fluid silk and the Balmain is exactly how paisley should exist. The platforms are so comfortable and are that very specific sort of ugly/cool. Especially with flouncy skirts, and maybe socks. I love that look. My mom gave me that Barcelona chair and the pillow is a keepsake from Mulberry's pool party at Coachella [one year]. That monster dude has a back too, complete with butt detailing. It's fun. The albino peacock feathers are from this creepy store that sells like, embalmed things and zombie teeth. They were probably the airiest thing in there.

Paisley Top, Pierre Balmain; Cream Top, Lover; Shoes, H&M x Marni
I bought these online from one of those crazy websites that sources things from small stores. I love the braided straps and the otherwise very, very clean design. For day, I like to wear them with shorts or a flimsy white dress but I love the idea of wearing them with the right silver piece, too.
I needed to be able to wear the dress on the left forever so I bought two. The other one still has the price tag on it and is smuggled away in a drawer somewhere; it's all very reassuring. It was like $25. But seriously, the high neck and ruching and cut are just perfect. Lover is my favorite Australian label. I could just subsist forever on everything they create, I think. I was lucky enough to be able to meet them and ended up spending about four hours whiling the afternoon away with them over Thai food while in Sydney for Fashion Week. Nic and Susien are so on point and clever and observant, and they channel it all through this self-aware hermit humor. Best humans ever. I needed both the black and the white sneakers, apparently. I like that they resemble confusing desert boots. I wear them just often enough to where I don't think I'm crazy for owning two pairs.

My hair is pretty self-maintaining, it has this in between wavy/straight texture and I just go with it. If I want it to look more beachy or whatever I'll use bumble & bumble Surf Spray or Oribe Dry Texture Spray, and for the ends I like L'Oreal's new Elseve oil.

Diptyque is my downfall, never sick of Baies or Figuier or Roses. I stock up at Candle Delirium on Santa Monica or Barney's in Beverly Hills. Rings, Various Designers
