The Market: Skinny Rings
Does This Ring Make Me Look Fat?
“Does this ring make my fingers look fat?”
“My fingers are way too chubby for these skinny rings!”
What sounded like something straight out of a scene from Mean Girls –you know, that scene in the school bathroom when they all complain about their non-existent body flaws? –took place this past week at Catbird in Williamsburg.
We had spent the morning with the handsome Ariel Foxman chatting about Hebrew school and sleepover camp, before popping by the lovely Rachel Roy’s pad. Roy looked flawless –her hair effortlessly blown out and her make-up perfectly done. We watched as she posed for Jake’s camera, drooling over her poise, confidence and… ring bling; mini skinny rings adorned Roy’s hands which also featured a hand chain, evil eye and even ones that said “love” and “f*#k.”
“It’s Jacquie Aiche!” Roy told us.
Fast-forward a few hours (and couple dollars later!) we found ourselves in Brooklyn, feverishly on the hunt for these tiny works of art. Though at first glance it looks as if you selected a few sizes too small, the tip of the finger rings are easily our favorites. Needless to say we snatched up a sea of ‘em and haven’t taken them off since… despite any pre-existing hand insecurities!
And Roy isn’t the only Coveteur who is falling hard for this trend. Rumi Neely had a serious assortment, too. “Right now I'm wearing a lot of Hortense and Catbird and Jennifer Zeuner,” she told us. “For some reason I’m just in the mood for something a little more delicate.”
Looks like we’re in the mood, too.
