Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

The Angels: Karlie Kloss, Candice Swanepoel & More. New York

There’s something to be said about that annual E-mail thread (or iMessage group chat) that circulates amongst your group of friends re: getting together to watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Because there’s nothing like a viewing party of flawless, angelic girls with six-packs (have you seen Doutzen?) strutting their stuff in skyscraper heels and oversized wings, while you shove your face with (a different type of) wings, fries… and diet coke.

Though a pajama party in your living room definitely sounds ideal, we tend to lean towards going straight to the source and submerging ourselves inside the real action. After picking up our all-access passes, we headed backstage where we were greeted with a slew of familiar faces: Alessandra Ambrosio, Karlie Kloss, Jessica Hart, Adriana Lima, Hilary Rhoda, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Cara Delevigne, Behati Prinsloo and more. We then went straight for the diamonds and got up-close and personal with the Royal Fantasy Bra (Think: 4200 stones in blue and yellow sapphires and diamonds, a 52-karat centre ruby from Burma and a pricetag of $10 Million.) While the girls sat in hair magician Orlando Pita’s chair, we watched carefully as he created “undone waves” (that’s hair speak for messy, I-just-woke-up-like-this) using VS’s “So Sexy” Body & Hold Volumizing Mousse and Hold & Finish Hairspray. See? You, too, can look like an Angel. After getting the full tutorial, we got chatting with Pita about everything from “crunchy curls” (remember those? Let’s not), the biggest misconceptions (read: product doesn’t cure your hair) and even that time he went blonde.

As we worked our way down the aisles, we found our way to Dick Page’s territory – the man behind the girls’ glowing mugs. “The make-up is very fresh, just very simple,” he told us. We watched as he expertly touched up Aldridge, starting by applying Victoria Secret’s “Flawless” lipstick down the nose and on the cheeks before applying foundation; note to self: do try at home.

We rushed to our seats just in time to see the show. We don’t want to spoil anything but we will let you in on a few secrets: Marching bands, feathers, dreamy shipwrecks, Emojis, Paris, Snow Angels… oh, and Taylor Swift.
