Wes Gordon

Designer.  New York

We caught up with designer Wes Gordon on the hottest day of the summer and trekked to the top floor of his apartment building. You can probably imagine the disastrous impact on our tresses by the time we arrived—our hair resembled the frizzy manes of the models’ from Alexander Wang’s S/S ’12 show. That being said, we were primarily just overheated with excitement to get inside his closet; word on the street was that Gordon's closet was full of 'monoglammed' goodness. Besides, Gordon’s amazing collection of Corgi socks and cable knits made us instantly forget the unbearable heat outside.
If you haven’t heard of Gordon by now, let us be the first to tell you that this is a name to remember. Running with all the cool kids including Cov-alum, Annabelle Dexter-Jones , Gordon’s come a long way since his days as a Georgia Peach. After making the move across the pond to enroll in the renowned Central Saint Martins in London, Gordon got his groove on in the workrooms of Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford. It didn’t take long for his namesake line to be picked up by Harrods and Saks, and recently, Bergdorfs and Kirna Zabête. But you’ve got to admire a kid who rocks a customized Croc-banded Cartier and decorates his home with silver fox pillows that his furrier whipped up. Like we said, Weston Marshall Gordon—don’t forget it.

Growing up in a school with uniforms, the only way to have fun with our outfits was with our shoes. Ever since then, I gravitate towards fun footwear. Plus, this one is an amazing shade of blue.

I actually got these in Palm Beach. I usually wear them around my office with jeans. I like them too much to wear them on the street.

I have a big thing about buying ties. It seems to be something that I’m always doing and I never really wear them. I thought it would be a great evening, black tie look. I plan on wearing it with a fitted navy suit and white shirt.

Another great picture. For my birthday, Alessandra (my roommate) sent me a big Mr. Porter box full of Corgi socks. (Ed Note: We would like to give a shout out to Cov-legend and King of Corgi socks, Mr. Simon Doonan A.K.A The Cranky Elf.)

The shirt on the left is my all time favorite shirt. It’s so worn out and paper thin from so many dry cleans. The yellow tie features a bunny getting hit by a golf ball. The artwork in the background is also Alessandra’s work blown up.

I pretty much live in sweaters and jeans all fall. I have so many different colors of cable-knits. I’m currently on the hunt for the perfect dark orange one.

I love this chunky sweater. I bought it years ago when I was at school in London and I can’t part with it. The silver fox pillows that the sweaters are resting on were kindly made for me by our furrier and are part of a set of three. They seem to wander around my apartment from room to room.

These are great sunglasses. They’re the only round pair I have. It’s good to have an assortment of styles.
